Mexico was admitted as a full member of the Wassenaar Arrangement (AW), which is a multilateral regime that seeks the non-proliferation of conventional weapons, and at the same time fosters a safe trade in technology and dual-use goods among the participating countries, including United States, Japan and nations of the European Union.
Said Arrangement is made up of 40 countries that adopt the lists of controlled goods and implement them according to their internal legislation (that is, each country determines how to internalize export controls).
This arrangement includes 342 fractions subject to control in addition to various goods that do not have a tariff fraction, such as software.
The integration of Mexico to the Agreement will reaffirm its commitment to the non-proliferation of weapons and will give the Mexican industry access to supplies not currently available, contributing to the development of the Mexican industry.
The income will give the national industry access to a potential high-tech export market of an additional $ 10 billion per year.
The Agreement by which the export of conventional weapons, their parts and components, dual-use goods, software and technologies susceptible to diversion for the manufacture and proliferation of conventional weapons and of massive destruction, was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on June 16, 2011
This procedure is free and is currently done through the One-Stop Shop:
- Application for Manifestation of Use and End User "MUF"
- Application for a prior permit to export conventional weapons, dual-use goods, software and technologies susceptible to diversion
- Modification and Extension of Prior Export Permit
